The Orchard Acquires Eva Vives’ Feature Debut “All About Nina”

May 14, 2018

Vives’ feature debut starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead explores the world of stand-up comedy

Los Angeles, CA – May 14, 2018 –The Orchard announced today that the company has acquired North American rights to Eva Vives’ feature directorial debut All About Nina, which had its world premiere in the U.S. Narrative Competition at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival last month. The film will be released theatrically later this year.

As All About Nina’s fractured protagonist, Mary Elizabeth Winstead delivers an astonishingly raw performance, tearing into her part with the ferocity Nina deserves. The film’s strong supporting cast includes a revelatory Common, who portrays a man of utmost decency, patience, and love. Through these complicated and resonant characters, as well as its deft examination of timely matters like trauma, abuse, and sexism in the world of stand-up comedy, All About Nina offers insight into what it means to be a talented, creative woman today.

Eva Vives said: “After years of living this story, I finally decided to make a film out of it. I am so excited and proud that a company with a track record and taste as exquisite as The Orchard will help me put it out in the world. Working with Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Common, was a dream come true. I hope you laugh as much as I did making this film.”

“All About Nina is a rare film in its honesty and its comedy, which is clearly a testament to Eva and Mary’s tireless work in bringing this story to the screen,” said Paul Davidson, EVP of Film and TV, The Orchard. “We know audiences will fall for this film and we are excited to take this journey with them and a team of producers for whom we have the greatest respect and admiration.”

The deal was negotiated by The Orchard’s Danielle DiGiacomo and CAA Media Finance on behalf of the filmmakers. All About Nina is produced by Eva Vives, Natalie Qasabian, Sean Tabibian of Diablo Entertainment, and Eric B. Fleischman. Executive producers on the film are Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Joshua Astrachan.
