Film Stars Richard Gere, Steve Coogan, Laura Linney, Rebecca Hall, Chloë Sevigny and Adepero Oduye
Cannes, France – May 20, 2016 – The Orchard announced today that the company has acquired all North American rights to Academy Award-nominee Oren Moverman’s forthcoming film THE DINNER. Moverman wrote the screenplay which is based on the Herman Koch novel of the same name. The film stars Richard Gere, Steve Coogan, Laura Linney, Rebecca Hall, Chloë Sevigny and Adepero Oduye and is produced by Cotty Chubb, Lawrence Inglee, Eddie Vaisman and Julia Lebedev. Executive producers are Leonid Lebedev, Angel Lopez, Olga Segura and Eva Daniels. Currently in post-production, The Orchard plans a fall release for the film.
Based on Koch’s international bestseller, the darkly suspenseful tale of two families struggling to make the hardest decisions of their lives – all over the course of one meal – explores just how far parents will go to protect their children.
“The Dinner represents an amazing opportunity for us to not only work with and develop a new relationship with Oren, a truly gifted writer/director, but also to forge new partnerships with the teams at Code Red, ChubbCo and Blackbird,” said Paul Davidson, The Orchard’s EVP, Film and Television. “We were all in from the moment we read Oren’s stellar script and can’t wait for audiences to experience it coming to life in theaters this fall.”
“It’s an honor and a privilege for our filmmaking family to be working with The Orchard and their innovative team to bring this extraordinary book to the screen,” said Moverman.
The deal was negotiated by WME Global and CAA on behalf of the filmmakers.
