BalconyTV Celebrates 10 Years of Live Concerts from Local Balconies

The international online music network also announces its 2016 Music Video Award winners, Bloom Twins and Moon.
New York, NY — June 10, 2016 — This month, BalconyTV, an online video channel of musicians performing on balconies around the world, celebrates its tenth year running since the institution’s humble beginnings on a balcony in Dublin, Ireland in 2006. Since then, over 15,000 shows have been filmed in 65 locations around the world resulting in more than 100 million views and performances from acts such as Ed Sheeran, The Script, Mumford & Sons and Jessie J.
To reflect on 10 years of production, BalconyTV tracked down 50 of the first artists that performed on the outdoor channel for retrospective interviews. Participants include Irish singer songwriter Eleanor McEvoy, The Saturdays’ Una Healy, Glassnote Records’ Adam O’Regan of Little Green Cars and more. The interviews can be found here.

Alongside this birthday milestone comes the announcement of this year’s BalconyTV Music Video Award winners. The People’s Choice Award, voted on by viewers, went to the genre-bending sister act Bloom Twins who performed on their home turf for BalconyTV London in June 2015. The Editors’ Pick, selected by the BalconyTV team, went to alt rock two-piece Moon with a flawless performance for BalconyTV LA in March 2016. Nominees for the awards were chosen from more than 2,000 new performances from the last 12 months.
