The Orchard Signs Two-Picture Deal With JKLC Films To Release New Films For The UFO Genre Titled “Bob Lazar” And “Hunt For The Skinwalker”

    Mar 27, 2018

Los Angeles, California – March 27, 2018 – The Orchard announced today it has signed a two-picture deal with JKLC Films to release two new films for the UFO genre entitled Bob Lazar and Hunt For The Skinwalker in late 2018. Following the success of Patient Seventeen, investigative filmmaker Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell has brought two of the most influential UFO-related stories in modern history to life, breaking new ground on recently revealed government UFO programs. The films continue The Orchard’s success in the UFO genre, following the distribution company’s release of Michael Mazzola’s Unacknowledged: The Greatest Secret In Human History, the highest grossing documentary on iTunes for 2017.

Bob Lazar, former Government Physicist, remains the singular most famous and controversial name in the world of UFOs. Over the years Lazar has remained elusive, and for the most part, silent. His disclosures have turned his life upside-down and he has tried to stay out of the spot-light. For this reason, he has never let any filmmaker into the private world of his daily life – that is – until now. Corbell’s film, Bob Lazar, will explore Lazar’s claims through the lens of thirty years – providing rare and never before revealed footage – guaranteed to alter the landscape of the debate.

“I know there are alien craft here from another planet. I saw nine, but I was INSIDE one. I know it was not made on Earth. I know it was made with materials that we cannot fabricate, and we cannot duplicate… we’ve never been able to,” says Bob Lazar. “It’s nothing I would have ever expected to see. I also know that we have examined bodies of alien creatures. I know this for a fact, and that’s the bottom line.”

Based on the best-selling book by George Knapp & Dr. Colm Kelleher, Hunt for The Skinwalker is a documentary about the most intensive scientific study of a paranormal hotspot in human his-tory. In 1996 a real estate mogul and self-made billionaire, Robert Bigelow (of Bigelow Aero-space) purchased 480 acres of land in northern Utah for use as a “living laboratory” – to study the UFO phenomenon.

“I’m excited to work with The Orchard to release these two groundbreaking films on the subject of UFOs, and the government’s involvement in the subject,” said Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Cor-bell, founder of JKLC Films. “These stories have been kept from the public for thirty years, and with the recent news coverage and the Pentagon’s admission of an active program studying these issues, there is now a unique opportunity to share them with a wide audience. I’m both excited and hopeful that the UFO problem will be illuminated in a sophisticated and newsworthy way.”

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Jeremy on these historic releases,” said Jim Martin, at The Orchard. “As fans of the content we’re excited to learn the true story behind these secret events that have been kept from the public for decades and will shift the discussion of the UFO phenomenon.”

RoyaltyShare Extends Platform With Secure Online Statement Distribution

    Feb 20, 2018

New Toolset Gives Record Labels an Efficient and Reliable Method to Deliver Statements to Artists

San Diego, CA – February 20, 2018 – RoyaltyShare, Inc., today launched an extension to its industry leading royalty accounting platform that allows clients to easily and securely deliver royalty statements to artists, producers and other partners. The new feature, available immediately as part of the RoyaltyShare application, simplifies the tedious process of distributing royalty statements.

“Statement distribution is a time-consuming and often error-prone aspect of managing royalty accounting for independent labels,” Steve Grady, SVP of RoyaltyShare, said. “We constantly strive to provide time-saving, elegant solutions so that our customers can focus on their core businesses. This new feature eliminates the need to mail or email statements and provides a secure channel for delivery of sensitive royalty information.”

“It is extremely important to our indie label clients that timely statements are available to their key partners – artists, producers and other royalty participants,” said David Phillips, Managing Director at Gelfand, Rennert & Feldman, who provides outsourced label administration to many labels and self-releasing artists. “RoyaltyShare’s new online distribution tool cuts days off of our process and ensures that these partners are immediately notified and can access statements with a few clicks.”

This new enhancement is tightly integrated into the RoyaltyShare application. Customers can enable partners for online distribution by simply adding an email address and activating the account. Partners are then sent an email invitation to create a secure RoyaltyShare account. Once the account is created, partners are notified via email when new statements available and can log into their portal to view summary data or download complete statements.

The Orchard Takes North American Rights To Jeremiah Zagar’s “We The Animals”

    Jan 31, 2018

Los Angeles – January 31, 2018 – The Orchard announced today that the company has acquired North American rights to Jeremiah Zagar’s acclaimed narrative debut We the Animals. A 2018 theatrical release is planned for the film, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this month, where it won the NEXT Innovator Award presented by RuPaul Charles.

Adapted by Dan Kitrosser and Jeremiah Zagar from Justin Torres’ debut novel, We the Animals is a visceral coming-of-age story propelled by strikingly layered performances from its astounding cast – featuring three talented first time actors Evan Rosado, Isaiah Kristian and Josiah Gabriel in addition to Raúl Castillo and Sheila Vand. In the film, three boys tear through their rural New York hometown, in the midst of their young parents’ volatile love that makes and unmakes the family many times over. While Manny and Joel grow into versions of their loving and unpredictable father, Ma seeks to keep her youngest, Jonah, in the cocoon of home. More sensitive and conscious than his older siblings, Jonah increasingly embraces an imagined world all his own.

“With ‘We the Animals,’ Jeremiah has masterfully created a dream-like backdrop for a story of personal identity and family,” said Paul Davidson, The Orchard’s EVP for Film & TV. “It is a captivating, magnetic film that deserves to be seen in theaters and we are proud to be a part of making that happen.”

“It’s always been my dream to get this movie out in theaters as widely as possible, and I’m thrilled to work with The Orchard to make that happen. I think they’re the perfect partner for this film,” said Jeremiah Zagar.

The deal was negotiated by Danielle DiGiacomo, VP of Acquisitions for The Orchard, and Eric Sloss of Cinetic Media. “We the Animals” was Financed by Cinereach (MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A., Sorry to Bother You, Beach Rats, Beasts of the Southern Wild) and produced by Cinereach and Public Record.

The Orchard Acquires William Friedkin’s “The Devil & Father Amorth”

    Jan 17, 2018

Documentary gives a chilling inside look of exorcism by the Vatican

Los Angeles, CA – January 17, 2018 – The Orchard announced today that the company has acquired worldwide rights to Academy Award winning director William Friedkin’s The Devil & Father Amorth from LD Entertainment. The highly-anticipated documentary gives an inside look at an exorcism performed by the Vatican’s Father Gabriele Amorth as he fights to expel Satan from an Italian woman. Produced by Mickey Liddell and Pete Shilaimon, The Orchard plans a theatrical release on April 20th followed by a worldwide digital release.

Over forty-five years after the release of Friedkin’s blockbuster hit The Exorcist, a film he made believing in the reality of exorcism, the director received permission to travel to Rome and meet with 91-year-old Father Gabriele Amorth, the “Vatican Exorcist,” to film a real-life exorcism. The documentary gives a terrifying look at the ninth and final exorcism performed by Father Amorth on an Italian woman who experiences troubling fits and behavioral changes.

“The world’s fascination with William Friedkin’s The Exorcist as a piece of art and a debate about religion and spirituality has never waned,” said Paul Davidson, The Orchard’s EVP Film and Television. “We share his fascination with the topic and the evolution of the discussion that is front and center in The Devil & Father Amorth and are honored to be partnering with him to bring the film to audiences.”

“In the early 1970s when I directed The Exorcist I had not witnessed an exorcism but I wondered how close I had come to portraying reality.” said Friedkin. “I had been curious to meet Father Amorth for many years and when he granted permission to meet and film him in Rome last May, it was the opportunity to complete the circle and see how close that film came to reality.”

The deal was negotiated by The Orchard and ICM Partners on behalf of the filmmakers.
