The Orchard Announces Peter McCarthy As Senior Vice President of Marketing
New York — August 9, 2011 Today, The Orchard (www.theorchard.com) announced that Peter McCarthy has been named Senior Vice President of Marketing. McCarthy, formerly of Random House, will be based in the New York office and will report to The Orchard's CEO, Brad Navin. As SVP of Marketing, McCarthy will lead the strategic marketing efforts across The Orchard's global marketing and distribution platform, translating marketing needs into value for The Orchard's constituencies. Additionally, McCarthy will contribute to driving growth and innovation by identifying market trends and opportunities, developing new business models, identifying 3rd party partnerships, and working with the Product Development and Engineering teams to expand The Orchard's core marketing services, products and capabilities.

McCarthy comes to The Orchard after a highly successful career in publishing. As Vice President of Random House, McCarthy was responsible for driving marketing strategy and execution for the world's largest publisher. He led cross-company innovation efforts focused on systems, social and earned media, advertising and partnerships to gain market share. Previously, McCarthy was Vice President of Penguin Group (USA) for six years, and prior to that, he worked in various digital capacities at The New York Review of Books and its family of publications.
