      Temporary Residence Temporary Residence Ltd. was born in Baltimore, MD in late 1995. The first release arrived in early 1996. Since then, the label has become home to an international and mostly experimental roster of artists, including The Anomoanon [featuring Ned Oldham], Baltimore electronic / rap artist Cex, Austin post-rockers Explosions In The Sky, ex-Silver Apple Xian Hawkins - aka Sybarite, Texas band By the End of Tonight, British trio Fridge, Eluvium, Howard Hello, Lazarus, Nice Nice, Parlour, Rumah Sakit, Sonna and Tarentel.
           
     
     
       
     

    CMJ WRAP-UP

    Thanks to everyone who attended The Orchard's daytime CMJ party at The Delancey in New York City! Major props to the bands that performed: NYC's own Looker, Lookout! Records band Communiqué and a special stripped-down version of The Raveonettes.

    Simply Red, Home – Pop / Soul (simplyred.com ltd)
    Already one of the UK's finest pop stars, Simply Red frontman Mick Hucknall is now a star of the silver screen. He appeared in the 2004 film "De Lovely," a bio of songwriting legend Cole Porter starring Kevin Kline and Ashley Judd, performing Porter's "I Love You." "De Lovely" also features tributes from Elvis Costello, Sheryl Crow, Natalie Cole, Robbie Williams, Alanis Morissette, Diana Krall and others.


    Gerardo Gandini, Postangos En Vivo En Rosario – Latin / Tango (EPSA)
    Argentinean composer and pianist Gerardo Gandini won a 2004 Latin Grammy - Best Tango Album - for the Orchard-distributed album "Postangos En Vivo En Rosario." A former collaborator of tango giant Astor Piazzolla, Gandini has earned numerous honors throughout his four-decade career, including a Guggenheim and awards from the Italian, Argentinean and French governments. Other EPSA Latin Grammy nominees include Orquesta El Arranque [Best Tango Album] and Trio Argentino [Best Classical Album]. �Felicitaciones!


    The Head Set, Ask Her Twice – Rock (Businessman Businessman Music)
    Congratulations to The Head Set, Grand Prize winners of CMJ's "Five-Borough Battle Of the Bands," held in Coney Island on June 6. The band earned an opening slot for Sonic Youth at NYC's Irving Plaza on CMJ's opening night, Wednesday, October 13. Catch The Head Set's "fierce, moody guitar sounds" [Time Out NY] during their residency at NYC's Pianos [158 Ludlow @ Stanton] this month: November 10, 17 and 24.

    Juggy D, Juggy D – R&B / Hip-Hop (2point9)
    London-based Indian vocalist Juggy D's debut is the first ever full-fledged Panjabi album on Britain's National Album Top 75 chart. It also hit #7 on Britain's Indian album chart and ranked in HMV's Top 20 best-selling albums the week of its release. His single "Soniye" is still going strong on bhangra charts. Juggy D has kept busy with an October U.K. tour, a live session for BBC's Asian Network and his weekly co-hosting spot on Rishi Rich's dance music show on London's KISS FM. Go Juggy!

    iTunes Europe

    The Orchard is thrilled to announce that industry leader iTunes cut the ribbon on nine new European digital music stores on Tuesday, October 26: Austria, Belgium, Finland, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. This new "European Union" of digital stores will retain the 99 euro cent-per-download model already used by iTunes in Germany and France since their launch in May. Apple has also announced plans to open a Canadian iTunes Music Store in November!

    As part of its partnership with iTunes, The Orchard's entire catalog will be available for sale at all of these stores. This marks another huge step in The Orchard's march to sell your music globally!

           
     
     
       
     

    WINTERFOLK III is a three-day festival held in Toronto, Canada between February 4-6, 2005 that will showcase rising and established roots, blues and folk artists. Winterfolk is currently accepting online submissions to fill 12 showcase positions. Application fees are $16 USD, if submitted before November 15, or $20 USD, if submitted between November 16 and the midnight December 3 deadline. For more information, visit www.winterfolk.com.

    GOT WHAT IT TAKES is a talent search competition open to amateur and professional artists who perform original and non-original material in the following categories: Pop, Rock, Blues/Jazz, Country/Folk, R&B/Hip Hop/Rap, Christian/Gospel/Faith, Lyrics and Instrumental. Got What It Takes aims to reward finalists with over $60,000 in cash and prizes. Finalists will be chosen January 30th, 2005. The application deadline is November 30.
