THE ORCHARD GOES HOLLYWOOD

NEW! If you missed the announcement in January, The Orchard has successfully launched a comprehensive suite of licensing services for Orchard-distributed labels that choose to participate. One such service is song placement for synchronization, in film, TV, advertisements, video games and other outlets. We've hit the ground running! We’re particularly excited that our global partner network will be hustling for synchs locally, working with music supervisors in their home markets. Here are just a few of the hundreds of placements we've secured thus far:

1) Swiss Bank Commercial.
We placed a track titled "Hard Work" by The Sun Harbor’s Chorus [Documentary Recordings], which features a traditional "drill sergeant"-style call-and-response, in a commercial for a Swiss bank, featuring scenes of people working for their money.

2) New MTV Show "8th and Ocean."
We placed the track "Pena Reggaeton Remix” by Raul Cela [Lobo Recording] in the pilot episode. The song is featured in the first five minutes of the show, in a scene that introduces the male leads of the series.

3) TBS Show "Movie and a Makeover: Serendipity."
Each week, TBS runs a "makeover" show that's thematically linked with their
featured movie of the week. They used a version of the "Sex and the City" TV show theme, performed by The Couch Potato All-Stars [Shanachie], for a segment that's set to broadcast May 13.

If you'd like us to work to place your catalogue in film, TV or advertisements, email us at oms@theorchard.com. We'll reply right away with information on how to get involved.

ORCHARD NEWS

CHINESE MUSIC FORUM: April 06, Beijing CHINA
The Orchard and its Asia partner ECD Hong Kong Limited [ECD], Asia's leading digital media distributor, are proud to host the first-ever digital music conference to be held in mainland China. The conference, titled "Globalization of Chinese Digital Music / Media Forum," will be held at the Beijing Landmark Towers, against the backdrop of an explosive market that is estimated to account for approximately half of all worldwide wireless growth over the next three to five years.

Key executives from Chinese media and technology companies, spanning music creation and ownership, processing and distribution, and regulatory bodies, will share their experiences and points of view and, more importantly, explore their prospective roles in working together to proactively shape China as a leader in the global digital media industry. It’s exciting!

Orchard CEO Greg Scholl will address the executives in a keynote, reiterating The Orchard’s commitment towards creating a vibrant market for Western independent music within China, and, similarly, working with its worldwide retail partners to build a new market for Chinese music outside of China. Orchard co-founder Richard Gottehrer, in a separate talk, will address how the fusion of east and west can positively impact the creative process.

It should be a great event, and we’re hopeful that it will lead to more and innovative ways to find new markets for your music, and new fans for your artists.
