NEW STORES AND MOBILE PARTNERS

The Orchard is dedicated to getting your music to every major digital store and mobile provider out there. Here are three new additions to our network!

HMV DIGITAL - UK
HMV - the retail giant that generates 25% of all CD sales in the UK - joined the digital download market last month. Like Napster, HMV Digital will give customers the option of "renting" music for a 30-day period through a subscription service, in addition to the option of buying individual "a la carte" downloads at a flat fee. Also like Napster, HMV Digital exclusively sells Microsoft-backed WMA (Windows Media Audio) files, which cannot be played on Apple's iPod, but works on Creative and iRiver devices. The entire Orchard catalogue was included in HMV Digital's early September launch. The Orchard's Marketing & Merchandising team has already traveled to London several times to meet with HMV Digital's editorial team and make sure that your music is properly promoted.

THE SOURCE MOBILE - US
A selection of Orchard-supplied hip-hop ringtones will go live on The Source Mobile next week, thanks to Orchard mobile partner Hudson. Now readers of the biggest hip-hop magazine The Source (approx. readership: 9 million) can easily find and purchase actual audio hip-hop samples (not just cheap polyphonic reproductions) for their mobile ring, including tones from Public Enemy, Afrika Bambaataa, Immortal Technique and Masta Killa. The Orchard will deliver new tones to The Source Mobile regularly, so keep sending us your newest hip-hop and R&B joints, as far ahead of street date as possible!

WES - FINLAND
WES [Wireless Entertainment Services] is one of the oldest players in the European mobile marketplace. It started supplying ringtones to carriers in 1998, when Nokia first introduced mobile phones that support commercial ringtones. The company will deliver Orchard ringtones - including batches of lounge music, Bollywood classics, hip-hop hits and spooky Halloween tones - to a network of carriers in Finland, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Poland, Portugal, Iceland, UK, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia this month.

NEW IN-STORE PLACEMENTS

It's a fact: promotional in-store placements boosts sales. That's why our Marketing and Merchandising team continues to work extra hard to promote you, our valued clients. In fact, we recently notched our 25,000th promotional in-store placement. Read about this unprecedented milestone here. Here's a handful of new "wins."

1) iTunes US promoted Mötley Crüe's new "Home Sweet Home" charity single [featuring guest vocals from Linkin Park's Chester Bennington] on its homepage and Rock homepage. The Orchard and Crüe / Bennington will donate 100% of the proceeds to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Effort and Mercy Corps. Read the press release here.

2) We scored a total of 37 major placements for artists like June Tabor and The Waifs at UK newcomers HMV Digital [sample] and Virgin Digital [sample].

3) iTunes Canada featured the reggae-tinged Canadian rockers Bedouin Soundclash in its Staff Favorites, Top Songs and Hot Pop sections. Bedouin Soundclash's single "When the Night Feels My Song" ranked #6 on iTunes' new at-a-glance international Top Ten Songs chart.

4) Art Brut's new single Good Weekend was featured in Karmadownload UK's newsletter.

5) Lookout Records' This Is My Bag label compilation was featured as a staff pick on Music Now's homepage.
