POPKOMM WRAP-UP
Orchard representatives from the US, UK, Italy, Spain, France, Russia, Argentina, Australia, China, Hong Kong, South Africa, Israel and Palestine took Berlin by storm earlier this month to attend the annual Popkomm industry conference. Orchard co-founders Richard Gottehrer and Scott Cohen spoke on panels - The Digital Marketing Challenge and A&R in a Digital Environment, respectively. Our international representatives met for an all-day summit the day before the conference to compare notes and coordinate global distribution plans. At night, everyone grooved to the nuevo flamenco grooves of Orchard-distributed bands Ojos de Brujo and Muchachito.

NEW STORES AND MOBILE PARTNERS

The Orchard gets your music into every kind of digital store around the world, from major download stores to genre-specific niche sites. Just like you'd want hip specialty stores and major chain stores to stock your CDs, The Orchard is determined to sell your music through every digital outlet possible. Here are three of the latest additions to our network!

VIRGIN DIGITAL - UK
Earlier this month, Richard Branson launched a UK edition of Virgin Digital. The new store gives users access to over 1.2 million tracks, either on a fixed-price purchase basis [79p per track, the going U.K. standard] or a monthly subscription basis [£9.99 per month], which allows users to "rent" unlimited tracks as long as they continue to pay their subscription fees. Orchard partner MusicNet powers Virgin Digital UK's backend, so The Orchard's entire catalogue was automatically included in its launch.

MUSICA360 - US
Launched just last week, Musica360 is a US-based bilingual music download store that specializes in independent Latin music. Musica360 sells music in MP3 form, so customers can play it on any digital music player, including the iPod. Musica360 follows the industry pricing standards of 99 cents per track and $9.99 per album. The Orchard has delivered its catalogue of Latin music to Musica360 and will continue to service the store with new Latin music.

STREETCDS - US
StreetCDs is a music download store that specializes in independent hip-hop. Once users sign up for a free new user account, they can purchase MP3s encoded at 192 kbps for $1 per track or $10 per album. The Orchard has delivered its catalogue of hip-hop music to StreetCDs and will continue to service the store with new hip-hop music.
