Storyville Records is the oldest jazzlabel in Europe and can celebrate its 60 years anniversary in November 2012. We have made a compilation of some of the most popular recordings we have issued during the last 10 years.
Duke Ellington and his famous orchestra play “Cotton Tail” with Ben Webster’s fantastic solo and another Duke Ellington recording with Billy Strayhorn’s “Blood Count”.
Pianist Mary Lou Williams with her signature melody “A Grand Night For Swinging”. The Boswell Sisters with their famous “Rock And Roll” recorded in 1934. Jure Pukl with the rising piano star Vijay Ayer playing “7 Up” and our ace vocalist Cathrine Legardh with Islandic saxophonist Sigurdur Flosason plays and sings “Little Red Devil”. Warne Marsh and Lee Koitz play Miles Davis’ Little Willie Leaps. Papa Bue’s Viking Jazzband with American New Orleans clarinetist George Lewis plays “Listen To The Mocking Bird” Pianist Sir Roland Hanna plays “Swing Me No Waltzes” and Johnny Griffin plays “Wee Dot” from a live session at Copenhagen’s famous Jazzhouse Montmarte. Danish drummer Alex Riel with George Robert and Dado Moroni live from the new Montmartre plays “Body And Soul’. The Danish pianist Carsten Dahl plays with Norwegian bassist Arild Andersen and drummer Jon Christensen :E-Banging” a tune composed by Carsten Dahl. Furthermore you can hear the hilarious “Did You Call Her Today” with Clark Terry, Jesper Thilo and Kenny Drew.
