CATAMENIA is a melodic dark metal band founded in 1995 by their original members Riku Hopeakoski and Mika Tönning in Oulu, Finland.
Their first two demos caught attention and lead to signing a contract in 1997 with Massacre Records, with whom they are cooperating till today.
They released their debut album "Halls Of Frozen North" in 1998. The second album "Morning Crimson" followed a year later. After the great feedback of 'Winternight Tragedies', the sixth album, CATAMENIA did their first East European Tour.
They also played at the Heidenfest Tour with Finntroll, Primordial, Eluveitie, Equilibrium and Månegarm in 2008 and at the Brutal Assault Festival in 2010.
CATAMENIA faced a lot of serious line-up changes in the past 17 years but they never gave up!
After playing several club shows and festivals, the band released their first compilation album "The Rewritten Chapters" in 2012, which featured completely re-recorded songs.
