Artist Info

Very few producers or DJs can attest to defining genres in House music, let alone music in general. The ever evolving and forward thinking Junior Sanchez is just that brobot. Since the mid 90’s Junior has been on a universal mission to rock clubs, top charts, and devastate dance floors. Growing up in New Jersey (also home to friends Gerard & Mikey Way of the band My Chemical Romance) Junior was influenced by early House sounds of the NY/NJ area, contributing to his artistic philosophy and flexibility. The youngest of six siblings, he was introduced to a vast array of musical styles, spanning nu wave, rock, metal, R&B and hip hop. Such an extensive range of influences culminated in Junior’s mental musical Wikipedia-like mind.

Junior’s longtime friendship with Armand Van Helden led them to form what some consider the Wu-Tang Clan of House music, The Mongoloids. He recruited the most cutting edge musical minds at that time, some still in their musical incubator stages. Artists including Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx, Stuart Price, DJ Sneak, Roger Sanchez, Ian Pooley and more became official members and embraced Junior and Armand’s vision. “Unity in House music is what we wanted to create,” and they did for a short time until members turned to their own projects.

As a producer and remixer Junior has lent his skills to artists such as Madonna, Shakira, Katy Perry, Good Charlotte, Placebo, The Bravery, Daft Punk, Gorillaz, Blaqk Audio, Hot Hot Heat, Roisin Murphy, Felix Da Housecat, The Faint, New Order, Emiliana Torrini, Jamiroquai, Giorgio Moroder, Moving Units, Les Rhythmes Digitales and countless others.

Maintaining his DJ roots, Junior performs and headlines clubs and festivals all over the world, as well as continuing to evolve as a businessman. His now legendary label Cube Recordings has released classic records from Rhythm Masters, Steve Mac, Felix Da Housecat, Stuart Price, Paul Woolford and more. He lent his magic touch to Felix Da Housecat’s Kittenz & Thee Glitz, licensing the record from Cube Recordings to Emperor Norton Records and later City Rocker Records in the UK, where it went on to become one of 2001’s most critically acclaimed albums.

2012 shows no signs of slowing for Junior, thanks to the forming of his newest label imprint Brobot, a distribution collaboration with Size Records’ Steve Angello and ThreeSixZero Artist Management Group.

When home, Junior is busy building beats and dishing up new flavors. “I know it sounds like a cliché, but if you work hard at anything and you believe in it, you can achieve it. It is all about having the drive."
